Dr. Peter Rundquist DPT, Chair of the Krannert School of Physical Therapy at the University of Indianapolis discusses the changes in the educational process for Physical Therapy.  As part of the APTA’s 20/20 Vision plan, the Association has set out on a path to create Doctors of Physical Therapy instead of a Masters Level degree.

Insurance Billing Expert Rick Gawenda With Tips Everyone Can Use.

Surprising to me, Rick Gawenda turned a topic that for some is a yawner, into a discussion full of useful and sometimes unknown information.  Not just for the coding clerk, but every therapist seeing patients in todays complicated world of third party reimbursement you will not want to skip this interview.

In this first of a two part series, Rick clarifies Medicare’s 8 minute rule and exposes some common misunderstandings about it.  In Part two to be released next Thursday, Rick will discuss the rule on billing for re-evaluations and how to correctly bill the non Medicare patient.

White is GOOD……..Red is BAD! Iontophoresis Vasodilation Visualized

After a recent podcast aired about the negative effects of high current stim during Iontophoresis, we were challenged to try it ourselves.  So…….we did.  Attached are pictures comparing a Hybresis electrode after the 3 minute skin enhancement mode vs an Iontopatch after a 14 hour delivery.  Clearly, in just 3 minutes, the skin is red on the Hybresis side. Patch vs. Hybresis

The creators of Iontopatch point to this as an indicator that something is happening that is not conducive to delivering as much drug to a site as is possible.  They believe that vasodilation is the worst enemy of drug delivery, causing the medication to wash away systemically.
